This means that you can have the very high reliability of CURWB wireless communications to your devices that matter, while supporting Wi-Fi to your normal devices.   CURWB operates in the standard 5GHz Wi-Fi band, but uses a different technology to support make-before-break roaming. When Wi-Fi roams, it disconnects before reconnecting - this can take anywhere from 100msec to a few seconds - and for many industrial applications that's just too long.   In order to find the root cause, we typically three things that we need to look at to diagnose wireless issues. - **Wi-Fi Diagnostic Survey:** Onsite survey to measure the current state of the RF  - **End Client Debug:** Walk around with a client onsite and debug the roaming events - **Configuration Review:** Check over the configuration of the network and compare to known best practice --- --- ## When do you use CURWB? Cisco URB is designed for industrial environments that require: - **Ultra‑low latency** - **Zero (or near‑zero) packet loss** - **Seamless roaming at speed** - **High availability with redundant paths** While there's a lot of use cases that CURWB is suitable for, some of the most common are: - **Industrial automation** (AGVs, AMRs, PLC connectivity) - **Ports and logistics** (cranes, container terminals, vehicle automation) - **Mining** (autonomous vehicles, remote operations) - **Rail and transport** (train‑to‑trackside communications) - **Smart cities & campuses** (PTP/PTMP wireless backhaul) - **Outdoor / harsh environments** where fibre is impractical or impossible Cisco URWB is specifically built for **moving assets and safety‑critical systems. It relies on advanced wireless technologies to connect remote sites to the core network, ensuring that data gets through when it matters most. Reliable wireless also brings greater flexibility to the environment, while also potentially reducing costs and installation times to connect fixed assets. Fiber isn’t available everywhere and can be prohibitively expensive to deploy and maintain. ## Cisco URB in Use One very common use for Cisco UEB is automated vehicles (AGVs) - these might be automated vehicles in a container port or large trucks in a mine site.
