Wi-Fi Assurance Review Process

Wireless issues can be very hard to identify and the typical user feedback is that the issues move around and seem to be different at different times of the day.

Hospitals and Warehouses are particularly susceptible to poor wireless experience as they rely on the wireless network - phones dropping out and bar code scanners refusing to connect are common issues.

In order to find the root cause, we typically three things that we need to look at to diagnose wireless issues.
  • Wi-Fi Diagnostic Survey: Onsite survey to measure the current state of the RF
  • End Client Debug: Walk around with a client onsite and debug the roaming events
  • Configuration Review: Check over the configuration of the network and compare to known best practice

Wi-Fi Assurance Collateral

The aim of the review is to provide you with as many actionable insights as we can for your network.

Typically in a review we find 6-8 root cause issues that have been plaguing that customer. The review looks at both the state of the RF, the roaming capability and the configuration: we compare across all three to see where an issue root cause lies.

The collateral you'll get at the end of the review is:

  • Wi-Fi Diagnostic Survey Report: The report includes detailed heatmaps across approximately six key metrics we use to determine Wi-Fi health
  • Assurance Review Report: The report has an introductory section with a traffic light system to simply explain the status across a wide array of wireless configuration.
    • The rest of the report then provides a deep dive into what those issues are and what we'd recommend to remediate the issues

Our report is written in plain language to allow you to understand the root cause issues and make a sensible, informed decision on how to proceed.

Once you've received your report, you can decide on the plan of action to undertake the remediation. There's no obligation to use our services to remediate your network and many of our customers simply use the report findings and deploy their own fixes.

We would be delighted to work with you on the remediation phase - and there's a specific methodology we apply to how we roll out changes.

Wi-Fi Remediation

Wi-Fi remediation is normally rolled out in a sequenced set of changes. These are backed with a change control, so we have rollback plans and a set plan for the changes to be deployed.

Some changes require several features to be updated at once and we'll work with you to look at the risk and interruptions certain changes will cause, before you sign off the action plan.

  • Depending on your environment, the change may be deployed out of hours
  • At the end of the change we'll run a user acceptance test set to confirm correct operation

One thing that's an important take away for how we undertake a Wi-Fi assurance review is the element of knowledge transfer.

Wi-Fi Assurance Review

If your network is letting you down, a Wi-Fi Assurance Review is a great step in determining the root causes of your issue. There is rarely ever only one root cause, which makes Wi-Fi problems so difficult to fault find.

To scope your Wi-Fi Assurance Review, we'll need some floor plans of the affected area, along with access to your wireless configuration.

we have had 100% success across many customers from utilities, healthcare, industrial, logistics, warehousing and many others. If your Wi-Fi experience is important for your business we can fix it.
