The Resident Experience

Residents who can access Wi-Fi in their rooms have told our teams about the enormous difference this makes to their lives.

The ability to speak with loved ones, browse the internet and play Netflix on their smart TV are a few of the uses that Aged Care Wi-Fi enables. This is a game changer to the happiness of residents, but also has a major role in supporting staff.

Staff in an Aged Care residence need to stay in touch and many Aged Care sites are built from brick: Wi-Fi is a perfect medium to enable voice and location tracking, allowing staff to stay connected and call for help when its needed.

Aged Care Networking Use Cases

The good news is that once you've installed your network is that there's a whole host of services the network can support.

Let's start with the obvious ones:

  • Corporate Laptops: Staff need to have their work devices and most of these are likely to be laptops
  • BYOD: Support for staff, residents, visitors and clinicians to have base internet access
  • Voice: Increasingly Wi-Fi is replacing DECT as the go-to technology for voice. Why would this be? The prime reason is that with Wi-Fi you can enable the use of smartphones - these can have barcode readers for medication management, phone lists, apps and duress functions - must more feature rich than the equivalent DECT phone

Aged Care is evolving and medication management, as well as the potential use of other BioMedical technologies. This leads us to the next category:

  • Potential Clinical Devices: Patient monitors, wearable clinical devices, etc

Aged Care network management has a unique set of challenges. Budgets, staff constraints and a wide geographic spread of sites make this a challenging environment to remain on top of.

Our Aged Care Managed Service Our Aged Care Managed Servicegives you peace of mind and our alerting means we don’t miss any issues – often allowing us to pre-empt them.

With a reliance on the network for building functionality as well as staff and resident satisfaction, ensuring the switching and Wi-Fi operate properly is key – and we have the tools, skills and team to do that for you.
